Job Opening: Operator

   

The HyCorr Operator is responsible for overseeing all activities associated with running the HyCorr cell and ancillary machinery including staging, setup, operation run, quality and housekeeping. Coordinates and provide work direction to HyCorr team. Ensures optimal production, quality and safety functions are met in alignment with our internal and external customer’s expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Reviews production schedule confirming Factory Work Orders and sequential interface order lineup are correct. Coordinate staging the order setup with HyCorr team.

Retrieve saved setup file or enter data from Factory Work Order and Print Card into machine or interface system.  

Activates and deactivates Hycorr and Stacker using machine controls.

Mounts and dismounts rotary die cutting unit and plate. Ensure cutting dies, plates, ink, Feeder and Stacker have been accurately setup. Run test board and make adjustments as necessary. 

Adjust machine speed, anilox position and blade pressure as needed.

Monitor Stacker machine corrugated board ensuring units are neatly stacked, conform to pattern and height specifications. Ensure proper placement of dunnage and load tags on units. Manually rotate shrink wrap around units.

Monitor HyCorr team and operations throughout order run ensuring optimal speed and quality of product is achieved.

Responsible for completing product quality checks including test run and press-side quality checks.  Perform quality inspection of ink including PH and viscosity. Verify ink container unit identification matches job order. Load ink containers in print downs and remove when production run is completed.

Inspects product dimensions, print quality, flaps, delamination, paper splice, warp, slots, score, and functionality for conformance to product specifications. Completes and approves PQV form.

Oversee staging of non-conforming product awaiting dispositioning.

Troubleshoot production and quality issues and provide corrective action. Work with HyCorr Cell Leader on improvements and recommendations for optimizing setup, production, quality, and safety goals. Communicate scheduling, production, quality, safety or maintenance issues with internal staff if applicable.

Provide on the job training to trainees.  

Back up other HyCorr position as needed.

Coordinate and assist with unjamming machine.

Oversee and perform basic preventative maintenance duties.

Oversee and perform daily housekeeping duties.

Ensure all HyCorr staff are following and complying with all health/safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalency, or; at least 90 days of related experience.

Knowledge

Production and ProcessingKnowledge of corrugated board types, converting production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. 

Skills/Abilities:

Operation and Control – Controlling operations HyCorr and ancillary machinery.

Operation Monitoring – Watching full production run processes to make sure a machine is working properly.

Quality Control Analysis – Conducting tests and inspections of corrugated board to evaluate quality and performance.

Troubleshooting – Determining causes of non-conforming board and machine operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Material and Operation Analysis – Determining quality of corrugated board and adjusting settings accordingly.

Management of Personnel Resources – Motivating, developing and directing team members as they work, identifying the best people for the job.

Time Management – Managing one’s own time and the time of others.

Conflict Resolution – Ability with deal with and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
